April 1, 2019: Monday, 7:30 PM. Premiere of Wicks’ piece “Four Seasonal Haiku,” for viola and cello, inspired by four original poems. On the faculty duo recital “American Haiku” with violist Nina Bledsoe and cellist Daniel Saenz, at the Recital Hall of the Gaertner Performing Arts Center at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. On the program, Bledsoe and Saenz will also play music by Shawn Head, Brian Herrington, Stephen Yip, and Brett Banducci.
April 5, 2019: Friday, 7 PM. “Love Is Strong as Death.” The third performance of the thirty-minute opera composed by Wicks in 2017, with sopranos Alison Christiansen Seeber and Aimee Larsen Amend, and baritone Bennett Bailey, with Wicks at the piano. Opening the program will be excerpts from other operatic works by Wicks. At Silverton United Methodist Church, 203 West Main Street. Donations accepted.

April 12, 2019: Friday, 2 PM. The Region VI conference of the Society of Composers, Inc., to take place at the Commerce campus of Texas A&M University, will include the premiere of Wicks’ “Three Songs on Poems of Willa Cather,” with baritone Andrew White, to whom the song cycle is dedicated. Christopher will accompany at the piano.
April 12, 2019: Friday, 7:30 PM. Repeat performance of “American Haiku” program with violist Nina Bledsoe and cellist Daniel Saenz, to include a work composed for them by Wicks. September 6, 2019: Friday, 7 PM. Recital for First Friday Music at Silverton United Methodist Church, played by violinist Stephanie Barth with Wicks at the piano. October 4, 2019: Friday, 7 PM. Presentation of “I Know that God Is Good: St. Theresa of Lisieux,” a chamber oratorio about a nineteenth-century French Carmelite and her devotion to God.
